Val d'Ille-Aubigné community offices

North of Rennes, at Montreuil-le-Gast, the competition for the offices of the Val d'Ille-Aubigné community of communes turned on an unusual brief: at least 90% natural, low-impact, untreated materials, corridors capped at 7% of the floor area to force compactness, and sustainability criteria weighted above price in choosing the design team. Magnum's response is held to that standard: plain construction, healthy materials, a compact plan, rather than a gesture of representation. The authority had already led the way with a positive-energy headquarters delivered in 2012, one of the first of its kind in Brittany.
