At Saint-Romain-le-Puy, in the Forez, Insolites architectures restructures and extends the Jean Monnet school complex to bring it together on one site. The operation regroups twelve classes and a ULIS class, adds one more, and makes the elementary school accessible to people with reduced mobility. It takes down the now-redundant gymnasium and the former town-hall annex, then reworks and enlarges the main building and its annex. Energy performance is overhauled: new insulation and external joinery, low-carbon concrete inside, a wood-pellet boiler and double-flow ventilation. The point is not to build an object but to put a scattered school back in order.
