At the Didier Simond international rowing stadium in Mantes-la-Jolie, the finish tower of the rowing course is first an instrument. Z Architecture sets its height and position to the millimetre on the finish line, for both visual judging and video measurement. It stacks race control, the jury, the commentators and a roof rigged for cameras and drones. The base is sandblasted concrete; the steel frame reuses nine tonnes of galvanised steel stripped from the neighbouring Guyader hangar, saving fifteen tonnes of CO₂. The metal screen doubles as signage and an open-air screen, and the banks are restored along a Natura 2000 site.
