Scaramelli housing

On the corner of rue Scaramelli and rue Charlotte, in Marseille's 12th arrondissement, a 1944 industrial building is being converted into housing. LLA Architectes fits around sixty collective flats into it for the social landlord ERILIA, keeping the existing structure and services as far as the building allows. The project holds two demands together: keeping a dense piece of built heritage and requalifying a fragment of the city, putting domestic life where industry had pulled out. The rehabilitation bets on housing families inside an inherited frame rather than clearing it to rebuild.
