Copenhagen housing

In Copenhagen, two housing blocks are joined by a timber gallery of organic geometry, conceived as a place for everyday gathering. The ground floor holds shops and the building entrances; the upper floors are given to apartments. The construction is entirely timber, structure and cladding alike, so the building presents itself from the outset as a living material rather than a façade. The gallery is not a mere technical link between the two volumes: it is the shared space that holds the whole together, where residents cross paths.
