Ajaccio postal sorting center

In Ajaccio, the postal sorting centre is not rebuilt but brought up to standard. Marret & Fernandez take on the existing building, upgrading it to current norms and shielding it from the Corsican climate: a large timber double skin wraps the façades and filters the heat where the original envelope no longer held. The car park gets a canopy roofed with solar panels, shading the vehicles while generating electricity. The intervention stays plain, aimed at use and comfort rather than at the image of a logistics building.
