In Saint-Herblain, near Nantes, Magnum, with Bleu Mercure, designed an office building. It reads in two registers: a tinted-concrete plinth that grounds the building, carrying three upper floors wrapped in timber cladding. The ground floor is shared, holding a restaurant and meeting rooms used in common by the occupiers, while the floors above are given over to work. The architecture stays plain, the mineral-and-timber contrast carrying the building's identity on its own.
